Local authorities have a duty to erect and maintain signs on public rights of way where they leave a public road. The past few years have seen this duty very much neglected in the Holme Valley. The councils previous investment in signing paths was beginning to look a bit tatty with many missing, faded or badly listing having been hit by vehicles.
However due to public interest and pressure there’s been a spurt of activity from Kirklees of late replacing a good number of these missing signs which are so valuable to path users.
Thanks to them for this work and lets hope it continues.
